Disappearing Inbox messages (With IE 6 for XP)

I recently added a second identity and mail box to Outlook Express (Bellsouth). I am losing the latest inbox messages every time I look at the outbox and sometimes when I exit and return to Outlook Express. My new identity is functioning fine and no messages disappear from any other folders.

I tried removing the mail client and adding a new one but that did not work.

    Thanks.

I guess that ( like me ) everyone else doesn't quite understand exactly what is happening to you.
Are you using BellSouth's own version of OE or the standard MS version?
Have you tried to contact the BellSouth Service Reps about this problem?
It seems to me that they should be the ones to guide you on the proper setup for their ISP.
    We need more info.

I am using MS Outlook Express. My first stop was the Bellsouth tech support. They couldn't help.

I may be lost here but, in todays OS why does one use "identities" when all is needed is a different Windows user account for the other person and email address.

If it is the same person using a additional email account why not just add the email information to the current Outlook Express setup. This way one would check all of the mails account at once.

"identities" do NOT make ones life any easier. Even back in Windows 98, where they were needed, there was (is) always problems.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Disappearing Inbox messages (With IE 6 for XP)

    This is what I did:

At Bellsouth, I added a second mail box with a different name for a home based business. At outlook Express I added a second mail account with the same name as I set up at Bellsouth. When I open Outlook Express, it brings me to the main mail box which it calls "identity". This is the mail account that loses In-Box information. The secondary mail account is O.K.

I am having a similar problem with messages disappearing when I view other message folders or exit and reopen OE. I am running Win2K/SP4 and OE6 with all critical updates from MS installed. I also run McAfee's AV that is configured to exclude .dbx folders from scanning.

After I removed the KB835732 security patch, OE began to function properly.

    Hope this helps.
