    EVENT ID 1000

We have an Nt4 Server and W2K pro workstations, and the following error occurs when users log into the domain via another user's machine:
    -----------
Your roaming profile is not available. You are logged on with the locally stored profile. Changes to the profile will not be propagated to the server.
    Contact your network administrator.
    DETAIL - Access is denied.
    -------
    and then another:

Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.
    -----------------------------------------
I have tried adding the user and the domainuser as administrators to the local machine. Even when the user's folder does exist in the c: under documents and settingsusername, the local profile is not found.
I have searched the registry and the policies to see if there are any restrictions to the number of users, but cannot find anything to that effect. ( Maybe it is a Server problem not local machine problem?)
MS Windows help is no help at all.
Does anyone have any idea? I would really appreciate it. This situation means that users cannot share a w/s as they will lose all their mappings and settings etc every time they log off. It is very inconvenient.

    Thanks in advance,
    Lucia

    Try these two:

    185198 - Error 1000 and User Profiles
174520 - Error Numbers Associated with Inaccessible Roaming Profiles

You say the problem occurs when users attempt to join the domain from another user's machine - this may be the cause if they are still logged in to the domain on their own machine. Can you confirm if the error relates to just one machine, or attempting to log into any other machine?

    Hi Leif,
thank you very much for your prompt reply.
ALL users logging into any other machine (not their own), were getting the error.
I eventually solved the problem, thanks to a link in an old post which sent me to the site jsiinc.com (http://www.jsiinc.com/subj/tip4700/rh4768.htm):
There was no folder on the NT4 server for the storing of the profiles. I created it and set the path to it in the users' profiles and finally, no errors!
Thanks for your time, and to all of you who help - you are all to be commended!
    Regards to all,
