User ID history listing (WIN XP HOME)

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but here goes. A friend checks his DISCOVER card account on line. To access the account, you need to put in the USER ID (which is his account number) and a password. He mistyped the account number the first time but then was able to correct it the second time. The incorrect number comes up each time he tries to access his account and he needs to use the down arrow and point to the correct number. Is there any way to get rid of the incorrect number so he does not have to point to the correct number. Thanks.

    This is in IE?
Try using the down arrow to highlight the incorrect entry, then hit the [DELETE] key.

To see, copy and/or delete all passwords stored by AutoComplete utility and Outlook Express, try Protected Storage PassView by Nir Sofer http://nirsoft.cjb.net

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

Re: User ID history listing (WIN XP HOME)

Here is the solution that my friend got from Discover Card's tech support - which apparently worked for my friend.

"The Account Center does not automatically fill in information on the login page. However, the information may have been saved by your Microsoft® Internet Explorer browser. To turn this feature off, please follow these steps:

    1) On the Internet Explorer select the option, "Tools"
    2) Select "Internet Options"
    3) Select "Content"
    4) Select "AutoComplete"
    5) Uncheck "Username and password"
    6) Select "Clear Passwords"

This will stop Internet Explorer from filling in any login or password information. "
