Global AutoCorrect/AutoText Utility

I read somewhere about an autocorrect utility that works with any application. i.e. you create words or phrases that will expand into frequently used paragraphs. This is similar to the AutoCorrect/AutoText features of Word. I can't seem to find out where I read about it. Anyone recall such a utility?
Thanks,

Phil, is it perhaps ActiveWords that you are thinking of?

Yes!!!!!!!! How the heck did you read my mind (better than I could, too)? I've been trying to find this for days...although I still don't know where I heard about it. Have you used it...and, if so, which version?

It's the only app that I know of that does what you are talking about. But no, I have not used it, just read a lot of promising reviews.

What would put me off more than anything is that they have a Vision.

I deeply suspect those companies that have fallen for this ludicrous and insidious ManagementSpeak, which puts me immediately into Curmudgeon Mode!

Sadly it seems that most companies around these days have fallen for it in one form or another.

Suspect them of paying lip-service to customer service rather than actually serving customers. They can point to the motivating poster on the wall rather than actually doing the job.

I also get very annoyed by the stupid trend of putting "e-" at the front of something, like "e-government", "e-commerce", etc, which seems to be a substitute for actual thought.

Do you want me to go on???!!!

Hi John:
Yes. I saw that...but at least they admit it. There's a lot of companies (er, we won't say who) that have a "vision" (as well as a lot of politicians. Still, if they make a good product...

I was given a link to a description about ActiveWords & InstantText. So I'll take a look at both & see which I like.
Cheers,

E-bahgum, lad. No *vision* here, apart from world domination.

(Happy E-aster, by the way.)

Re: Global AutoCorrect/AutoText Utility

Well, I've been using InstantText quite a long time and adore it. But I am fairly new to ActiveWords and I've been falling over myself about it. I think it's really a fantastic program! What's even more amazing, InstantText and ActiveWords can work together, seemingly flawlessly. ActiveWords even allows me to do things with IT that I could not do with IT alone (this is because I can get AW to "talk" to IT, but not get IT to talk to itself). I'm just one big ActiveWords fan out there. For more info, you might want to see the ActiveWords forum on my board, Productivity Talk, and the ActiveWords forums themselves. Here are links:

Frankly, I'd love to see how some of you folks over here would put AW to use! I've done some really helpful scripts, but I have gotten stumped on how to make a few I really want to make!

Re: Global AutoCorrect/AutoText Utility

I must say that I'm much more concerned about politicians with "visions", than with software companies. The principles remain the same, but the stakes are rather higher. I'd prefer to lose user support when a software company falls flat on its face, than suffer the corresponding losses when a whole country does.
