Word 2000

After upgrading to the latest version of office 2000, I find that after pulling up older documents and saving them, all formatting dissappears, and a list of what appears to be formatting instructions is appended to the document. How can I prevent this?

You can make sure that when you open files you don't do so using the "Recover text from any file" filter. This setting is sticky which means it hangs around until you change it. Next time you use File>Open in Word, change the "Files of type" you are displaying.

Great call! After reading your solution, I reread the question and I feel you must be right on target. But then, you usually are.

Dear Andrew,
Thank you so much - I looked at 'File Open' and there it was!
