Windows sizing button function reversed (SR1)

New installation, new computer. The function of the middle button in the group of three, upper right corner, reversed from all previous Windows I have used. Any fix?

What do you mean by reversed? It normally toggles between full screen and reduced size window (see examples below) so I can't quite grasp what the reverse would be...

Leif, Thanks for your reply. What I meant was that the window size increases when the double-window appears, instead of what I would call the other way ar0und

In NT4, W2K and XP - here certainly - the 'double-window' icon appears when a window is maximised. This makes sense as it indicates clicking it gives you a multiple-windowed view.

    Are you sure all your previous versions weren't reversed? <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Was it ever any other way ??? I seem to recall that even Windows 3.1 was that way.

Windows just restores the last size. Sounds as though the last size was bigger than you would like. You can manually resize the frame so that Windows learns the new size you prefer. This is easy with the mouse, but if the lower right or upper left corner is off the screen, there are keyboard trick. To resize so that the lower right corner becomes visible, try Alt+Spacebar, S, then right arrow once, then left arrow until the frame comes into view, then Enter. Ditto for the bottom, Alt+Spacebar, S, down once, then up repeatedly. If the title bar is off the screen, you can move the whole window using Alt+Spacebar, M, then down arrow until it comes into view.

Thanks, I guess that really was the problem.
