    Headers not downloaded (OE 6)

I have several newsgroups I access my ISP's server. I've set up OE to sync New Headers only. When I run the sync I get some headers to d/l but not all. For example this morning I got 150 new headers on one group but another 30 didn't download. When I "Mark All" I am left with no more unread messages and yet the indicator in the left (explorer) pane will show "group I'm interested in (30)", since there are still 30 messages unread, but they didn't download. Only way out of this is to do a 'catch up'. But I can then repeat the sync, have no readable messages and yet the 'counter' indicate I have 30 unread messages (none of which downloaded).

Is there a setting I am missing? I've got OE set to d/l 500 messages so that should not be the problem.

(hello) Have you had a look at your Newsgroup settings? In Outlook Express Go to >TOOLS>OPTIONS>READ>NEWS, towards the bottom of that menu there is a box "GET MESSAGES" - make sure you have entered the number of messages from the newsgroups you want to download (I think it is set by default to 500, but you can alter it), To finish select APPLY. I hope this is useful

Yes, I have them set at 1000, but have tried everything from 300-1000.

Have you gone to OE>options>security and unchecked the box, "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially contain a virus"?
Perhaps those news messages have attachments that OE doesn't like?

Hi there, have you inserted into your menu (when in newsgroups) the icon which allows you to manually click when collecting headers? This is what I use instead of having OE collect headers for me. If you do not see a button in your OE for this, select any area in the menu that does not have an icon, left click>CUSTOMISE>HEADERS, drag this icon up to your menu, close customise box. Once back in your newsgroup try clicking on this icon and see if it helps. Also purge newsgroup headers occasionally. <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29>
