Export Design Changes Only (Access 2000)

I have a design master and several replicas. Is there a way to export design changes only from the design master, with importing data from the replicas? I have used both the one-way and two-way synchronize methods, and in both instances they do not export design changes only.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

A sync always exports design changes first. Then the data is synced both ways. There is no way to separate the two into separate syncs. You should never try to sync both design and data changes from the master simultaneously, which is why it isn't a good idea to replicate front ends, because local tables will conflict. If you delete a field in your design change, for instance, the next step is for the sync to try and reconcile the data changes from the replicas, which won't work because the field has been deleted. Data changes to local tables will result in data conflicts because they have been changed in both the design master and replica. Back ends don't present this problem since the data is always entered from the replicas.

Make design changes and sync those. Then make data changes and sync those. Local tables will still bite you if the users are busily entering data while you are making those changes in the master.

Just to amplify on Charlotte's post a bit, putting out design changes with replication, while suggested in some literature and marketing materials, generally doesn't work that well. We almost never replicate a front-end, only the back-end. We put out design changes by replacing the copy of the front-end installed on the user workstation, and we use an automated tool to do the replacement.
