    Query expression (Access 97)

I would like to write an expression thats test a paramater or input from the user for a file # or an enter key press. If a file # is supplied, the filter is based on this value, but if the enter key is hit, the filter would be for all records. Have tried a few ways of doing this and it seems simple enough but I don't ever get all records, but if the file # is inputed I get the correct results.

    Do it like this:
    - In an empty column of the query grid, enter [Supply a File Number] (or whatever text you would like to display, surrounded by square brackets.)
    - In the criteria line for this column, enter [FileNumber] Or Is Null (where FileNumber is the name of the field you want to filter on; substitute the correct name.)
