    Word 2002 Footers (10 SP2)

Can you add a second footer to an already existing footer without removing what is already in the footer using a macro?

If you mean that you want to add a paragraph of text to an already existing footer, use code like this:

ActiveDocument.Sections(1).Footers(wdHeaderFooterP rimary).Range.InsertAfter vbCrLf & "This is the second line"

This is for the primary footer of the first section of the document; if you have done nothing special, this is "the" footer. If you have more sections and/or separate footers for the first page or even pages, modify as needed.

If you really mean a second footer, I don't know what that is...

There can only be one footer per page, but you can add into the existing footer. Do you need help with the code? Some sample code that is "nondestructive" can be found in <post#=280266>post 280266</post#> (insert before existing text) and <post#=59626>post 59626</post#> (insert after existing text).

Thanks. I'm thinking like WordPerfect where you could have a Footer A and Footer B and you could even discontinue one of the footers.

Word is different from WordPerfect. A Word document is divided into sections (default, only one). Each section can have up to three footers:
    - A primary footer (used on odd-numbered pages, and on other pages if no footer has been specified for them.)
    - A footer for even-numbered pages, if specified in the Layout tab of File | Page Setup.
    - A footer for the first page of the section, if specified in the Layout tab of File | Page Setup.
In a document with multiple sections, a section uses the footers of the previous section by default, but you can "unlink" them. There is no way to specify "use the footers of the section before the previous one".

    Similar for headers.
