    Append query (Access XP)

I am appending one table to another table and it comes up with 64 records it won't append due to Validation Rule violations. The problem is that there are no validation rules on this table.

There are plenty of Format and Input Masks defined, could one of these be the problem.

    Re: Append query (Access XP)

As far as I know, an append query does not check if the values appended conform to an input mask, and Format is just a way to display data.

If you have one or more fields with Required set to Yes, and if the source table has blank values in those fields, that would cause the validation rule error message.

If the source table contains zero-length strings (this could happen if it has been imported from another application) and the text fields in the target table have "Allow Zero Length" set to No, you would also get the error message.

The Allow Zero Length for both tables were the same, however there was one field where the Required field was set to Yes in the Destination but to No in the Source table. On further investigation there were in fact 64 records which had a blank field where the Required was set to Yes.
    Thanks Hans.
