Win98 SE & infected system files

I've discovered that my sister has been running her computer without any anti-virus program for the last three years or so. She uses AOL so assumed all would be well. (Her boyfriend has probably been visiting porn sites as well.) Having installed Kaspersky for her, on running it I found the following files reported as infected.
    cwindowssys_ext.dll
    cwindowsMSIN32.DLL
    cwindowssystemexplorer.exe
    cwindowsLMPDSRV.exe
    cwindowssvchost.exe
    cwindowss.htm

Kaspersky says it cannot disinfect them. So what do we do? Is a re-install necessary? Or would my giving her the same clean files from my own system, and overwriting hers do any good, -- if that was possible. She's using Win 98 SE, as I am. A complete re-install would presumably wipe all her files -- accounts, work etc. And as she doesn't have a CD writer can't copy what is important. Any help towards solving this problem which shouldn't have happened would be appreciated.

This file {cwindowsMSIN32.DLL} is from a Trojan Keylogging Trojan

I suspect that if this machine has been running that long without real Protection you will have a real hard time getting rid of all the Trojans and Viruses,,especially from Porn Sites,,but you might try PC-Cillin or Norton and see if they might clean it up for you,,,other wise,,,,,,,,,,,, Whoops and Shame Shame Shame for having no Protection. Also backing things up without cleaning them of all the afore mentioned little critters might be a waste of time,,because you just might transfer some of the little bugers..

    Hi Coredon

You might be able to get rid of some by running Adaware and Spybot S&D. Get download links <!post=here,296439>here<!/post> .

The run your antivirus program again.
Perhaps another AV program might have better luck....you could download and try the free version of Avast to try.

    Have a Great day!!!

You might try running the system file checker and seeing what you can drag up and replace if you have your W98 disk. Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information. When that screen comes up choose Tools/System File Checker.

I believe you can also go to Start/Run and type sfc.exe if that's easier. It might be worthwhile to see if you can replace the corrupt files with the sfc.exe and THEN run another scan to see if the problems are still detected. Some of those nasty ######s have fairly deep roots, so simply restoring the corrupted files by itself will not get rid of the virus/trojan without some further assistance from a virus scanner.

I think it will be quickest and most reliable to do a clean install.
You will need to find a way to back up all the data files, but that is no bad thing
After you reinstall you must do a full virus scan of all your data files before using them.
