Strange request

On my return to the office after the Easter break I found the following e-mail sent from: Lyris ListManager [lyris-noreply@lists.woodyswatch.com]

Re: your subscribe request
> subscribe
Sorry, but the email address 'xxx@xxx.org' (my actual e-mail address was shown) is already a member of 'wowmm'.
Because you are already subscribed, Lyris ListManager did not subscribe you again.
To unsubscribe, send a blank email to leave-wowmm-11896095Y@lists.woodyswatch.com

Funny, as I do subscribe to this e-zine, but I did not send another subscribe request to this, or any other of Woody's products. I'll ignore this, but though somebody might want to know about it.

You have been spoofed and a email was sent to sign you up and umpteen others for the newsletter.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

John

Its unlikely, as the message was sent to my office PC (some sort of Dell PC).

Re: Strange request

I think this happens if you forward a newsletter and someone click the subscribe link, because it already contains your address. Maybe someone should fix that.

Re: Strange request

You would have sent an email to someone who is infected with some virus, your email address would have been taken and spoofed by the infected computer and sent to the subscription service amongst others in the victims email system.

Nothing much we can really do about that, just ignore the reject messages.
Cheers, Claude.

Re: Strange request

Thanks guys, I thought it was probably a spoof, but didn't know if you knew, or wanted to know, you know?
