2003 (Text doesn't show when typing)

We have two users who are having a strange issue with Word 2003. When they type, the text doesn't show until they click the mouse on the screen somewhere. I've never heard of this, and I'm not sure I'm even describing it right. When they first open Word, the cursor stays solid.. it doesn't blink. If they click the mouse on the page, the cursor blinks, but when they start typing, the text doesn't show until they click the mouse again. They have to keep doing this. Any ideas? I can't find anything on the knowledge base, but I'm going to go search it some more. Thanks!

    Hi Melanie:
I would start by checking the mouse drivers on their machines, and also whether the problem occurs with any other applications. If it doesn't, you can try the steps in <post#=197827>post 197827</post#>. Note that the beginning of that post lists a support template that can be downloaded for Word 2003.
    Hope this helps,

Thanks for the suggestions, Phil. it turns out that deleting the normal.dot file worked. Of course, you need to delete the CORRECT one. Duh. I forgot that in Office 2003, the normal.dot file is in the user's application data folder, not the templates folder in the Programs folder. Once I figured that out, I deleted it and my world is now calm again.. until the next panic call. Thanks!
