Windows Update

Any comments regarding the latest updates from Microsoft out there? Horror stories usually abound, but haven't heard peep one about the recent "fixes" Microsoft has published via "Windows Update.'" Are these safe to load or should I still wait and play it safe.

    Re: Windows Update

A problem with one Win2k machine but OK on 10 other Win2k & 5 WinXP Pro machines. Problem with 835732 causing 'System' service to take over the CPU. Uninstalling 835732 fixes it. Since then the machine had to be reloaded from scratch (the data was backed up - thank goodness) and the patch was applied before any application software was installed. No problems observed with the patch. The machine had all sorts of junk installed and uninstalled so there is no telling what the real culprit was.

Someone reported an OE problem over on the Outlook Express board. One of my IT guys said IE froze solid and he had to uninstall the update(s) (not sure exactly which ones). Me, I've had no problems so far.

Never touch the things 'til Woody give the OK........ or 6 months have passed and there have been no reported problems !!! If they can't get the OS right, how are the to be trusted to get the updates right ???? Their track record speaks volumes !!!

But seriously, do check the Outllok Express and Outlook boards. Some have reported serious problems with email messages gone missing after a recent update.
