    Office 2000 e-mail attachments

Had a system crash with W2K, which was fixed with the std W2K restore utilities. Desktop and installed programmes operated as expected when initially tested, and I have used Office 2K OK.
Noticed today that in Word & Excel, the e-mail as attachment button was grayed out, and no longer appears on the drop down menus. I can add attachments in Outlook, but have the bother of moving from the current application.
Any clues, ideas where I should look next?
    Thank you

I don't know why this has gone wrong but you could try just reinstalling the option on the File menu. To do this, right click on a toolbar and choose Customize. Select the Commands tab and then File in the Categories column. Scroll down the Commands field until Mail Recipient and Mail Recipient (as Attachment) come into view.
Click on the File Menu, then click on the Send To option.
Drag the Mail Recipient command(s) to the sub-menu.
    Close customisation.

Thanks for your reply Brian, :-) however when I follow your instructions, the process works fine, but does not solve the problem. The item appears on the sub-menu, but still greyed out. I suspect that a registry entry has been affected and that's where I have little knowledge.

Tools / Options / General tab. Check "Mail as attachment"

    Pls let me know if this works. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

Thanks for your response Karen, however this box was checked. I am beginning to suspect that I may have to e-install Outlook, as to me that is probably the common link.

try detect and repair, it should be on the help menu.

Remember, a reinstall, even with an uninstall, may not fix it, depending on where the problem is.
