Input Mask Fail After Deleteing Data in Control (2002 10.4302.4219 SP-2)

I have two telephone numbers controls on a form with the following input masks: WPh !(999") "000-0000" "#####;0;# and FAX !(999") "000-0000;0;#. The blank and 5 #'s in WPh is for an optional extension number.

First time entry of data in the WPh works just fine. However, when a user has deleted all the data in WPh and attempts to enter a new number, the mask does not appear and the error message "The value you entered isn't appropriate for the input mask xxx specified for the field." F9 will ususally reset the mask for the control. Additionally, if a user attempts to edit the existing, non-extension portion of the number, the same error appears. The entire number must be deleted, F9 entered and a complete number reenterd. Interestingly, the extension protion of the number can be added, deleted and changed without a problem.

These problems do not occur with the FAX input mask. The entire number can be deleted and renetered or any digit or digits can be changed.

    Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
    Marty

the problem is the ! in the mask (in combination with the optional digits #). If you remove the exclamation mark, things should work better.
