    Odd One Out

Of the seven boxes below, six share a common trait while the remaining box is the odd one out...

    #1, because <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>it is the only one containing an "I"</font color=yellow></span hi>
    #2, because <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>the vowels in the other six are in alphabetic order</font color=yellow></span hi>
    #3, because <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>all others contain at least two different vowels</font color=yellow></span hi>
    #4, because <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>the other six contain 10 characters or less</font color=yellow></span hi>

My point was, you can think of any number of reasons why one of them should be the odd one out, not just the reason you happened to have in mind.</font color=yellow></span hi>

    Re: Odd One Out

Good point but you could make the same argument for other puzzles similar to this one. For example, you could say that number 7 was the odd one out because it's the only one to the far right, or number 2 could be the odd one out because its the only even-numbered square less than three!

Keeping with the spirit of a puzzle, there is something significantly unique about the pairs of words in six of the squares while the pair of words in the remaining square does not share the same uniqueness.

Granted, I'm not an expert puzzlesmith and you've done well to expose some flaws, but why not waste a little time and try to solve it as intended. I think you may enjoy the challenge. Better be quick though...Rob and Stuart are pretty good at these.

He doesn't need to rush on my account, the solution hasn't jumped out at me and I'm off to bed now...

    First impression:

<span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>Box 7. You can remove the first or last letter of only one of the words in the other six boxes to leave a legitimate word. You can do this with both words in box 7.</font color=yellow></span hi>

    First impression - rubbish.

    <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>Box 1 is the odd one out - non-antonymously transposed cohabitees.</font color=yellow></span hi>
