Cannot export the OE address book as *.wap (XP Professional)

    Hello!

I am using XP Professional with OE as my default mail client. I have recently downloaded and installed all Windows and Office critical patches and service packs.

Since then I cannot export my address book from OE. I go to File / Export / Address book / Microsoft Exchange Personal Address Book, and try to export the address book as a *.wap file (my procedure that has worked until now).

I get the following error message:

I seem to have solved my own problem by searching for *.wab in my C: drive. The search found administrator.wab, which contains all 1400 addresses in my OE address book. I copied this file to a CD to serve as catastrophe backup. Perhaps this will help somebody else. David

Did you rename the "administrator" account to your user name?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

No, I didn't rename, Dave, which could be a problem. But I now realize my mistake. When trying to export the .wab address book, I first opened OE to the Inbox, and then selected File / Export. I should have opened OE, then the address book itself, and only then File / Export. That works fine. Thanks anyway. David
