    IE, winexplorer disabled

Can't open IE or Windows explorer. Using Netscape now. Norton AV up-to-date. Scan finds nothing. Ditto Spybot. Using Win2k SP4.
Can use Word to open files. Any thoughts?
Also found that I can't open Control Panel.

According to these two threads from other forums, you are not alone:
WinDrivers Computer Tech Support Forums - Cannot open Control Panel or My Computer
XP Home problem : cannot open control panel/IE6/Windows explorer/my computer - Open Tech Support

This MS KB article covers the CP not opening, but I suspect it is more than that:
221153 - Control Panel Does Not Open

Let us know if any suggestions amongst that lot help - otherwise, can you get Windows Explorer to run by entering
    explorer.exe
in the Start > Run box?

Success! Both of the suggested forums had the answer. I ran inetcpl.cpl to bring up the Internet Options screen. Clicked on Advanced and unchecked Enable third party browser extensions. Both IE and Windows Explorer are now working.
    Thanks for the help.
