    Duplicate Outlook Today (2000 (IMO))

    I have a user on Windows 2000 SP3, MS Office SR1.
He has (2) IDENTICAL copies of Outlook Today.
I can't close either copy - Outlook protests that I can't close the Outlook Today that contains my calendar, contacts & POP mailbox.
These really are IDENTICAL - when he receives eMail you can see it come into the Inbox & then be moved to a subfolder by a running rule - in BOTH versions of Outlook Today.

    He has (1) & only (1) Outlook.pst file.

What can I do to return him to (1) copy of Outlook Today?

The procedure described here should solve the problem.

    Hello John!

Thanks for the quick response - but, no joy!

I run the command from MS KB 303931 and get an error box -
"The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using."
I have verified that the path is correct, I have recreated the command several times, I have tried cut & paste from the kb article - same result every time.

    Any other ideas?

If your user is running OL in Corporate or Workgroup mode, note the second solution.

The user is using OL in "Internet Mail Only Mode".

I used the first solution from MS KB 303931, and it gave me the previously posted error.

Don't mean to be picky, but did you included the quotation marks in the command?

If this doesn't work, have a look at <post#=82411>post 82411</post#> . I had this problem in OL 2003 and this registry modification solved the problem. It's a trial & error thing so backup each of the entries before you delete them. That way, if you delete the wrong one, you can simply import it again.

Of course you should be picky - it's command line syntax.

Yes, I did use the quotation marks as shown in MS KB 303931.

I'll take a look at your other suggestion, but, it would be good to know why the 'a/cleanprofile' switch isn't working . . .
