    WordArt Font (Word 2002)

I have set up a .dot document on a series of machines which contains a WordArt graphic in the header.
The whole document shows up superb on each machine other than a test machine installed today.

    The test machine is Win98 with Office97 (Word97) 1024x768 16 bit.

The dot document on this machine shows ok with a jpeg, and text in the headers and footer.
The WordArt section hsows distorted as with the attached PNG.

I have checked the font and it is installed as with the other machines.
I re-created the dot document but still the problem resides.
Has anyone come across this before ?

    Re: WordArt Font (Word 2002)

    Hi Dave:
I couldn't find anything that directly addresses this. <!mskb=291337>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 291337<!/mskb> indicates there would be a problem converting a document from 2002 to Word 6 or 95, but not to Word 97. Strange, they offer a registry change for Word 2000 to correct the problem for 6 & 95. I'm not sure if that would help on this machine or not, but you could give it a try.

    Re: WordArt Font (Word 2002)

Phil, this may be relevant but with the article there doesn't seem to be a quick remedy.

What I did find with messing with the dot file, was the WordArt graphic wasn't converted correctly.

In the Word 2002 dot, the WordArt graphic is set at 270% rotation to give me the vertical text.

In the Word 97 version, the WordArt is Horizontal and compressed.
Stretching and resizing can be done but orientation doesn't take any effect.
To try to format the WordArt, the settings say it is set at 270% where in fact it isn't ???

The only way to resolve this is to re-create in Word 97 and see if it converts correctly up to 2002.

I've nearly done that but setting the footers seems to be a pain to show all the document correctly.

    Re: WordArt Font (Word 2002)

    Hi Dave:
I don't have Word 2002 to check. I suppose that there could be some corruption that comes in where a document is opened in an earlier version. Try saving the Word 2002 doc by disabling features that don't exist in Word 97 & see if you get any clues. At least with Word 2000, there is such as option on Tools/Options/Save tab. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you.

    Thanks Phil

    I can see that now.
There are compatibility tabs and particularly the Save tab !
