IrfanView 3.9

Released just a couple of days ago. Get the latest version here. From download.com:

The latest version features a host of updates including multi-language support, additional file format support, a thumbnail preview option, drag and drop support, batch conversion, and much more.

According to their word there seems to be nothing real new, but I guess this must be a standard description no-one has revised in a long time.

Thanks for pointing this out. Does it still load graphics as fast? I don't use 90% of its capabilities, so I hate to sacrifice speed.

    Hi Phil,

I don't know: I haven't installed yet. I'm using an older version: 3.36 which does not require a "formal" installation. I was using version 3.8 (which supports Webshot files), but when I upgraded to WinXP something seemed not to be quite alright. I uninstalled and used 3.36 until today (under common circumstances, I would have tried to make 3.8 work OK at any cost, but having recently installed WinXP there were so MANY things I didn't like in XP itself, I spent hours reconfiguring the OS and had no time to dedicate to esoteric details).
I have yet not had the time to install the latest release, but y'know, y'gotta download things like these. They are true masterpieces, and if not today, maybe tomorrow one has to give each version a try.

Thanks Alan. It was clear that something else had to have changed.

    Hi Diegol:
That's what I'm using, version 3.80. I seem to recall there was a reason that I didn't upgrade last time. Oh, yes I found it in the thread starting <!post=here,291251>here<!/post>. You must visit there often. Later versions don't handle webshots. Of course, for me, who's graphically challenged, I don't know what a webshot is. (OK, I just looked it up so now I do.)
