Quick Launch - Cannot create toolbar (XP-SP1)

An authorware program was installed on my computer and now some very strange things have happened - the most annoying is that my quick launch toolbar is now gone and when I try to reactivate it I get an error that says cannot create toolbar! Anybody know how to fix this?

Also when I am in word and now try to print using ctrl P I just get a pound sign. Regional settings for my computer are set to the UK so I don't understand why this is happening.

Any thoughts from you clever people out there? I also can't figure out how to uninstall the authorware programme.

Usually, applications can be uninstalled through the Add/Remove Programs control panel. If you are on a corporate network, you may not have permission to do so, however.

This fix from Doug Knox may recreate the Quick Launch toolbar. But you may not be able to use it if you're on a corporate network (the fix is a VBScript file)

Does Ctrl+P produce the Pound sign in Word only, or also in other applications, such as NotePad or Excel?

Is that authorware program that somehow "was installed" on your computer in the start menu list of programs (Start / All Programs / authorware program or distributors name) ?? Check there to see if it has it's own uninstall program and use it. If not go to Add / Remove Programs in control panel and remove it from there.

Post back after you have removed it and let us know if that solved any problems.

Re: Quick Launch - Cannot create toolbar (XP-SP1)

Thanks for all your help, I finally got my quick launch toolbar back - I found an installer for it on the web.

I also finally got rid of the "Authorware" application by going into Internet Explorer , Tools, Temporary Internet Files - settings, view objects and deleting it from there!

The Ctrl P problem was only in Word - so I went into customise and reset the keyboard defaults!

That seems to have returned my machine to it's 'normal' state. Sometimes I really hate computers!

Thanks for all your help anyway.
