Default value set to max +1 (2000/XP)

Is there a way to use the default value field act like an autonumber so that when you create a new row in a table, the key value takes on a value equal to the largest value currently in that field in the table plus one. I know how to do it via VBA stuffing values in a field on a form, but wonder if it can be done directly using table/field properties.

    Thanks!

I'm afraid that you must do this in a form, using VBA.
