    Frames (Frontpage 2002)

I am hoping someone can get back to me. I have a student who came to see me because her professor is insisting that she create her web page using frames. She created it without and is now having trouble trying to use frames. I told her that we don't really use frames in our area. Do you recommend frames? I have created web sites in Dreamweaver and Frontpage without frames with no problems. Can anyone help explain the pros and cons of frames?

    Re: Frames (Frontpage 2002)

Well, things should actually be easier for her because she created her content pages first. In FP 2002 once you have asked for a new page, you'll find Frames Pages as an option. (see attachment) All she'll need to do is select the layout that she wants.

Once she has the desired Frames Page layout open, then she can specify one of her existing pages as the Initial Page, or she can create new pages on the fly.

Remember that the Frames Page is actually a method for looking a multiple web pages simultaneously, so when she saves, she'll probably be asked to save more than one page at a time.

Frames have fallen out of popularity because of the difficulty some browsers have had with printing and bookmarking frame pages.

    Hope this is useful.
