    unwanted url (IE6, SP2, XP Home, fully up to date)

    I too have read all (most!) of the threads on hijacking etc. Installed adaware, spybot which have both done their work and now show clean, and hijackthis which shows a bunch of stuff I dont understand.

    at random, it seems, my browser goes to a site I do not know, which has a blue background and a header "where to you want to surf today". Sometimes the content is relatively innocuous, somtimes I would really not like my family to see it. the address takes the form of variations on

    mk:@MSITStore:C:WINDOWSstart.chm::/start.html

    I have chased these files to find that their content changes, and has at times included references to ddrive.js which looks like an HP (HP computer) reference to their hidden backup partition so I dont like to touch it. It does not seem to change the home page, certainly not permanently, but I almost find the randomness more un-nerving.

    Any ideas, and sorry if one of the threads does already touch on this....

    Having just posted that message, I find that this time it has forced its way into my home page.
