Table - undo merged cells (Word97/SR2)

    Hi -

In a multi-column table, after horizontally merging several cells in a middle column, is there a way to "undo" that merge after performing other operations? I want to 'reinstate' the rows I merged (without having to copy/paste a new column).

I tried inserting cells but got the message 'Word cannot insert cells because there is a vertically merged cell in the same row.' (Drawing lines is not an option here.)

I've attached a file to indicate what I'm trying to say

    Thank you.

    Have you tried the following?
    - Click in the merged cell.
    - Select Table | Split Cells...
    - Specify 1 column, 6 rows, then click OK.
    This works in Word 2002.

    Hans -

Yet again you came to the rescue!

I have become so used to using the Split cell button from my toolbar that I forget about the options via SelectTable/Split Cells...

    Thank you very, very much!
