dictionary = US English change in registry (PowerpointXP)

    Hiya

When we open up PowerpointXP the lanuguage is set to English US, however when we open up any powerpoint presentation the language is set to English Australian.

All our other XP apps ie WordXP & Excel XP language is set to English Australian.
Is there away we can set a registry setting for powepoint to default to English Australian? its easier for us to set a registry setting.

    many thanks & regards

On the tools menu select Language, choose English US and then click the default button.
Then check the master slides in the template you are using to see if they have an associated language

PPT picks up its default language settings from the keyboard. You might check your Windows Control Panel/Regional Settings to see what the keyboard's set to. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...787&Product=ppt explains about the keyboard setting override (but you can ignore the stuff about the service pack and error message...)

In WinXP, the keyboard language setting is in Windows Control Panel --> Regional and Language Settings on the Language tab. Click the Details button to see it.

Even the keyboard setting? (Just checking.)

    > when I select one of the other office powerpoint templates -

Where did those templates come from? I'd bet the textboxes in those are US English, and that's why the overall language for that template or any presentation based on it is also US English. That's my guess, anyway. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

I wonder if you change the language to Australian English on those templates using the code at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...amp;Product=ppt , if new presentations based on those templates will also have English (Australia) set as the default language? It's probably worth a try.
