    Date placeholder in Insert statement. (Access 97 SR-2)

    Within a VBA loop, I am trying to insert values into a table (by building a string and using DoCmd.RunSQL). I am using the syntax

    Try using Null for values that are missing as yet. An empty string '' is valid, but an empty date ## isn't.

    Thanks, Hans. I still had trouble with that, so am now trying a different version of the INSERT INTO syntax. Rather than
    INSERT INTO table VALUES ( complete value list ) ;
