    Mailto with formatted body message

    Hi Guys & Gals

I am creating a HTMLHelp version of a procedures manual and want to have hyperlinks which will create a proforma (boilerplate) email that the user will then embellish before sending. This body content may be up to several pages worth of information. Is it possible in HTML to use the Mailto: to add formatted (or even multiple paragraphs) of data to the email? If not does anyone have a script that can add an .RTF file to the body of the message? Failing that how would I call an email template from a HTML page?

Another problem I had was trying to create new files from office templates. I finally worked out that I could hyperlink to a shortcut and stick a /n switch in the shortcut. Does anyone have a better method?

My users all have Office 97 with Outlook 98 or Office 2000 running on NT4/5 and Windows 95/8.

Mailto is too limited. But...click on the "send this post to a friend" icon (over to the right) for a sample of an HTML mail generator. It works, although I have no idea of the length limit, and presumably it requires ISP support on the back end.

My <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.amdragon.com/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=hack&Number=1315&page=0&vie w=collapsed&sb=5>Send2Friend Plus hack</A> uses a couple of Perl scripts. The downside is you need wwwthreads to gain access to the original scripts it's built on. <img src=/S/money.gif border=0 alt=money width=17 height=15>

Thanks for your input. I figured it out anyway ad I didn't need code in the end. All I needed to do was create the message in Outlook and save it as an OFT file. Hyperlinking direct to that creates a new message that can be edited (and you don't even get the annoying download or open dialog either).
