    making an 'icon' (IE 6)

IS there a way to take a small jpg file and make it into an "icon" -- the thing that displays to the left of the text for a favorite on the fav.s bar? Thx.

I thought this was the web designer's decision, not the user's decision, but I can't say I'm 100% sure of that. If you search here for favicon you might find some relevant threads and maybe third party tools.

Jefferson is correct - if you want to create an icon for users, you can certainly do that. But users will not have a unique icon unto themselves, it's determined at the website level, not on the client side. What you need to find is a program that will convert a graphic of your choosing to the .ico format. Just beware, shrinking something to that level will often render it useless. There's just no detail left.
