    Understanding new pivot table (2003)

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to avoid the "=GETPIVOTTABLE(......)" formula that is automatically generated when I use a field from a pivot table in a formula adjacent to it?

What I have noticed is that on older versions I could quite happily have a formula outside/next to the pivot table which referred to a cell in the pivot table without any problem. But the newer version doesn't seem to allow me to do this. This is particularly annoying when I want to copy the formula because the original cell is still being referred to.

Can I switch something off? or is there another way to get round this?

    Thanks in advance
    Hayden

I don't use XL2003 so can not test this, can't you just edit the formula?

or perhaps put the formula in a column not adjacent to the pivot table.
