Sticky Situation (XP)

I have not had my PC too long. Lately any time I try to play any of my games, they drag. It is like they freeze
for a few seconds. This is very frustrating! Also when I try to use an application such as Picture it, the screen starts to
pop up but it also freezes for a few seconds. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

When the screen freezes for those few seconds, look at the case and see if the hard drive activity light is on. My guess would be that you have some disk activity going on. If not, it could be the display driver. Have you updated it?

Tell us more about your PC, i.e., CPU speed, memory, disk size, graphics card and etc.
It may be hardware related.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

My PC has 2.09 GHz & 448MB of Ram. Not sure which is the memory!
A friend told me my problem may be the Spy Sweeper thing I have going. So
I shut it down and it seemed to help, so now it only sweeps on comand
rather than random. I appreciate everyones help. You guys are the greatest!

Re: Sticky Situation (XP)

Kathy,

The 2.09Ghz is the CPU speed.
The 448MB is the amount of memory. ( which isn't too bad, but another bump up to 512MB might be on your "wish list". ) Not an urgent one though.

Hope you are back and running OK.

Actually, the info I gave came of properties on My Computer. On the front of my CPU
it says 2800+, 120GB, 512MB, NVIDIA.
I bought it about 7 months ago. It is an Emachine. I have to say it has been a
good pc. The price was so reasonable! Just thought I would throw in my
indorsement! Thank you all for your help and promptness!
Kathy
