Format SubDatasheet (Access 2000)

I have a tabbed subdatasheet in datasheet view. It shows up as font 10 pt, I would like to reduce it. How?

My general advice would be to avoid subdatasheets, but won't Format | Font... work (while the focus is in the subdatasheet)?

What exactly do you mean by a "tabbed subdatasheet"? Access has tab controls and it has subdatasheets, but it has no mixture of the two. Do you by any chance mean that you have a tab control with subforms displayed as datasheets?

Yes, I have a tabbed form with a subdatasheet on it. I have reduced the font in the underlying table but the datasheet view font in the subdatasheet does not reduce. In fact, the properties doesn't list a font size. Thx for your response.

Unfortunately, there is no Format/Font available. I am taking the underlying info straight from a table, which I have formatted to a smaller font, but it doesn't come through to the datasheet view in the subdatasheet. Thx for your response.

Have you disabled standard menus in Tools | Startup...? My Format menu displays a Font item while the focus is in the subdatasheet.

    Re: Format SubDatasheet (Access 2000)

Hello, Hans: Your responses in this thread have been very helpful. For quite some time I've tried to change the font size in a subdatasheet via the Format tab in Design View...to no avail, of course. It never once occurred to me that I could use Format > Font in Form View.

I have to ask why you say, "My general advice would be to avoid subdatasheets." Really? What do you recommend one use instead? (And why?)

As always, thank you for your help!

    Re: Format SubDatasheet (Access 2000)

Subdatasheets in tables have a negative impact on performance. I always set the SubDatasheets property of tables to [None].

I (almost) never use forms in datasheet view, and hence no subdatasheets in forms. The end user can mess up too much. Being a control freak, I don't like that .
