Hyperlink a portion of a cells content (Excel 2000)

    I am attaching an example worksheet and would like to know if there is a way to hyperlink only a portion of a cell in excel for example...

    A1 holds

    To learn more information about this, click http://www.nascar.com and you will learn more.

    Where only http://www.nascar.com is the actual hyperlink?

    Thank you so much...need a response soon (with a really BIG PLEASE!!!!)

    That is not possible, but you can change the displayed text however. Hit control-k and change the text in the first textbox of the edit hyperlink dialog. The entire text will be underlined however.

    Here is an example of the 2 methods.

    A1 has a link in the cell. The formatting was removed from the linked cell and then just the "hyperlink-text" was formatted. Anywhere in the cell will go to the link

    A5 has no hyperlink. The "hyperlink text" is formatted and around the text is added a label (from the forms toolbar) with no text so it is "not visible". This object was assigned the macro:

Sub LinkNascar()
    ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink _
    Address:="http://www.nascar.com", _
    NewWindow:=True
    End Sub

    which links to the site only when you click on the label (whihc can be sized and placed wherever you want.)

    Re: Hyperlink a portion of a cells content (Excel 2000)

    I'm trying to learn by following posts and attempting to recreate their contents. Problem is, I don't know how to attach a macro to an object. I inserted the label, but now I can't select the label, much less attach anything to it. Can you help?

    Thanks! I was using the Control Toolbar and couldn't even select the label after I made it not opaque.

    I created the label for the FORMS toolbar as they are easier to use than the ones in control toolbox.

    Right click on the label and chose assign macro and assign macro, select the macro from the list.

    If it is from the control toolbox you must get into design mode first to select it [first item (pencil, triangle, ruler) on the control toolbox toolbar (view - toolbars - "check" control toolbox)].
    double click it and you will goto VB and into the click event of the button add the line:

LinkNascar

    Change to the name of your routine, then exit VB (alt-q), and exit design mode (press the button again)
