'unimbedding' a spreadsheet from a Word doc (2000)

I have a Word document which contains an embedded spreadsheet (a graph is displayed in the Word document), but when you double-click, you can get to the entire spreadsheet. Is there a way to save the spreadsheet as an .xls file (i.e. "unembed" it from the Word document?)

    Thanks!

Make sure you are not editing the embedded spreadsheet.
Right-click the spreadsheet object and select Spreadsheet Object | Open (not sure about the exact captions in English)
The spreadsheet will be opened in Excel.

    Hi,

Whenever you embed part of an external Excel workbook in Word, you get the whole catasrophe. An alternative is to create an embedded worksheet in word with formulae that reference the relevant parts of the external workbook, the same as you might do if linking two workbooks.

    Cheers
