    Explorer's Edit menu

If I click on the Edit menu in my Win 2000 Explorer, Explorer crashes. It's been like that for so long now I just never click on it. My IT people don't seem interested in fixing it. Anyone here got any ideas?

Found this in an MS newsgroup.

"HkSFV from Big-O Software LOL" was causing the same abort.

If that is not the problem, have you tried to run SFC /SCANNOW from a command prompt?

    Re: Explorer's Edit menu

Ah, progress! I've never heard of HkSFV so I doubt that's the problem but then I'd never heard of SFC either. However, running SFC /SCANNOW gives me a message about needing files to make Windows run properly but I don't seem to have the necessary network permissions to get at them. At least I can go and try pestering my IT people again.

Thanks, I'll report back if/when I get any further.

Good luck!!! Your IT folks may want to control use of SFC (System File Checker) as it can replace Windows system files. Most likely that is a potential problem in their eyes. You may also want to talk to them about a repair install.
