    Merge and categories (OL XP)

I have 400 or so contacts using 20 or so categories.

In Publisher 2000 I want to do a merge using just the names in one category.
I can make OL, in view, list just the names that I want in the particular category, can even print them out.
But when I try a merge (with the correct view showing) it will always give me all 400 contacts.

Can this be done? (in Publisher or Word?)

Re: Merge and categories (OL XP)

Ok, after a little more work, I have found that I must START the merge FROM Outlook, instead of FROM the app that I using to be the merged Document.

IN Outlook, I set up the "view' from my contact list. (the 'view' can be a sort from any catagory)
AFTER I set the view then I can send (merge) TO the app, in this case, WORD. Then creating a new doc or use an existing one.

I have not found how to use this process using Publisher 2000......But I am still working on it.

I want to thank all who did NOT reply, helping me to work this out on my own, and making sure that I had all the fun. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>

    You're welcome! <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> There's no greater sense of accomplishment than figuring it out yourself.
