unaccounted for file size (2002 on WINXP)

I back up my Outlook files weekly to a CD-RW using ROXIO 5. When I recently tried to back up the files again, ROXIO informed me that the Outlook files were 1.75 gigs in size and would not fit on a CD. There are not 1.75 gigs of data in my Outlook files. In fact, there are less than 25 megs. I went through every Outlook folder to see if some of the numerous digital images I store in non-Outlook files might be there, but found nothing. I can't account for the large file size in Outllook. Can anyone help?

Remember that the PST file contains ALL of the data saved including the email, contact, tasts, calendar, journal and etc.

Also have you compacted it lately?

Gene, I'm puzzled by your statement that you looked through your "Outlook Files". The most critical Outlook data file is the PST; what other files are you trying to back up? Do you have multiple PST's?

Incidentally, PST's are about 50% compressible with a ZIP compression program.
