wordmail mangles my table (word 2000)

Today I wanted to send a colleague a complex set of info, best understood in row and column format, so I created a word table and filled it in.
Using wordmail, I addressed the email and sent it off. My colleague replied that she could not work out the table content, and I saw that both the quoted original part of her reply, and the version in my 'Drafts' folder had lost the table, and replaced it with spaces, which failed to maintain proper spacing for columns etc.
I tried a couple of times with the same result. I usually use Word for email, using HTML and my corporate smtp system.
I dont want to have to use attachments if I can avoid it, but hope that wordmail can handle a simple HTML table.
Any help with this would be most welcome

If I needed to send Row and Column format info in the body of a mail message then I would export it to a CSV file and put the CSV format data into my mail message. This can be easily imported into Excel or any other spreadsheet, and it is not dependent on spacing or other transient formatting aspects of the mail package.

The issue may well be with the recipient rather than WordMail. Not all email systems can receive HTML formatted emails. Another approach would be to attach your table as a Word document or an HTML document - nearly all systems are now capable of dealing with attachments properly.

You could experiment a bit with the recipient: try creating an HTML mail in Outlook first, then copy and paste the Word table into it. If that works better, well, I'm not sure what it proves, but you have a workaround. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
