Insert File (Office 2000 win XP)

When I use the File/Insert Command, instead of inserting a document into my active document, an email message is created and the file I want to insert is an attachment to this new email. I have checked--we have disabled use Word as email editor. If I use a new MS generated normal.dot, this does not happen. I have stripped everything out of my normal.dot except custom styles. No macros running in normal.dot
Any suggestions? I'd be most grateful!!

Re: Insert File (Office 2000 win XP)

The easiest thing to do, since you've already discovered that it doesn't ocurr with a new normal.dot, is to rename the old one, create a new one, & then copy your custom styles to the new normal.dot. It sounds like the Insert/File command has been changed. I suppose you could try deleting the old command (Alt+Ctrl+Minus (above P) & then click on the Insert/File command on the menu to remove it). Then you could go to Tools/Customize.../Commands tab/Insert menu on left & drag "File..." back to the menu.
    Cheers,
