    Searching my own posts

I often remember a keyword or two in some old post I've made. Is it possible to do a search of one's own posts, using one's name as part of the search criteria? I often sign in text as just "Alan" but other times use a sig. graphic. Some posts I might not do either. Seems like the search looks only at the "body" text of the message, and not the associated username ("AlanMiller" in my case). Any suggestions?

This is a long-standing wish, but it is not possible, alas. You can search for posts by a specific Lounger or for threads started by a specific Lounger, but then you can't specify keywords. Or you can search for specific keywords, but then you can't specify the poster.

Alas! Thanks anyway Hans. I've found most old posts I've tried to refer back to, but it's often been by the hard slog. Lounging wasn't meant to be easy!

Let's hope that LoungeAdmin will find time to implement a poster/keyword combination search. It would be very handy indeed.

It's been on my wish-list for a while but when I asked a couple of years back <img src=/S/eileen.gif border=0 alt=eileen width=17 height=15> explained to me that since the Lounge is a big database, it would be a lot of work to write & test a Search that looked in effect at two fields at once, and running those searches would significantly impact Lounge performance. (She probably wanted say something more like "no way in <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0>"; I'm taking liberties in recreating the dialog. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>)

    ... and me! <img src=/S/yep.gif border=0 alt=yep width=15 height=15>

I don't know whether I just don't think the same way as the original creator of the Search facility or if I'm just stupid when it comes to this, but I never seem to be able to find a combination of keywords that will find what I want! It's strange, because I can find just about anything in Google! <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>

    Ah, well - we'll just have to keep our <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16> that one day maybe ... !!
