    validation rule (2000)

Hi, I am using a validation rule (>#31/03/2004#) and text to check a date in a cell, and this is working fine.

I'd also like the option of the cell later returning to being blank. This is not a problem for a new record when there has been no data entered in the cell. The validation rule won't allow this when there is existing data and the user wants to clear that data. How can I alter the rule so that it will allow the user to remove existing data from a record, leaving the cell blank, and not trigger the validation checking process?

    Regards, Roger

If it's ok for field to be blank (Null) if no date entered, then keep the validation rule but make sure the Required property for field is set to No. This will allow you to delete date from exisiting records w/o error resulting. See attached illustration.

    Hi Mark,

I was doing the validation on the form, so I've changed it to being on the table and it works fine now. Thanks for your help.
