    You have no control over what happens in a query and you cannot make design changes to forms in an mde, so you're going to have to decide which is more important to your organization, data integrity and accountability or user convenience. One compromise might be to use a datasheet as a subform, since they can rearrange the columns in the datasheet to suit themselves and you can use code behind its beforeupdate event to add the last updated date. However, without a fair amount of programming to record their preferences in a local table and reapply those when they reopen the form, it isn't going to happen.
