Problems Printing the Date (Word 2002)

One of the workstations in my office has developed strange printing behavior. Our server is Win2K and the workstations XP Pro. One of our form documents automatically inserts the date on page 1 and succeeding pages. The date on page 1 is centered, the other prints at the left margin. A few weeks ago, the date began to print incorrectly. For example, last Friday the date printed as

It appears that you are using a different calendar from those of us in North America! But seriously, does it appear this way only in printed output and not on the screen? That's very, very odd. What if you unlink the field before printing (select it and press Ctrl+Shift+F9)?

Yes, it appears only on the printed output, not on the screen. Not sure yet about unlinking the field since it doesn't do the weird printing all the time. Will post another reply tomorrow.

I tried unlinking the field and it still prints the weirdness. As I said before, not all the time. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

I have found that inserting a date field will apply a "Do not check spelling and grammar" property to its contents. Perhaps Word also is applying a different language to it in your case? Not sure what might cause that. Very strange.

You could check your printer driver & make sure it's up to date. It's also possible that there is some conflict with another application or some corruption in your template. Does it happen only at one workstation? If so, I'd shut down any applications besides Word & try it. If it still ocurrs, try the steps in <post#=197827>post 197827</post#>.
Cheers,

Re: Problems Printing the Date (Word 2002)

Thanks for the good ideas. I will try them. Yes, the printer drivers have been updated/reinstalled/replaced. Problem was still there. Had not thought about conflicting applications. We always have Outlook open and running... hmmm..

Today I deleted the problem file and made a new one. (Even though I've done that before, I tried again.. maybe I had to do it 2/3 times to convince the computer that *thats* what I really wanted to do!! It has printed fine since then, so I'm thinking it may have been a corrupt file. Except... the problem file printed fine on other workstations. But at least we seem to have found a temporary solution. I say temporary because I still think there is a problem with that workstation. Otherwise why would other workstations print it correctly. The whole scenario has our (offsite) techs scratching their heads !
