Password won't remember (OL 2000)

I reinstalled my Outlook 2000 running as Corporate, it won't keep Password in outgoing e-mail accounts, i have deleted accounts and recreated. Microsoft states something about the registry but can't find any instructions on what to do. i am running windows 2000

What do you mean by outgoing e-mail accounts? Are these set up differently from regular (receive and send) accounts?

No just regular accounts

In some versions of Windows, passwords are not saved if you bypass the logon. However, I don't think you can bypass the logon in Windows 2000, so... nothing else comes immediately to mind. Can you give a little more info about the Microsoft fix you referred to in your original post?

But the IT department may have made the setting so one can NOT save passwords.

Before retirement, using NT 4.0, we were not able to save passwords, as it is a very weak security system.

I just found the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article and tried it and it worked the article number is 275467
