    Default font (2000)

    Hi,
Simple question here, can I get Word (or any other Office program) to default to a font that isn't Times New Roman? And if so, how?

    Re: Default font (2000)

In Word, the default font you get when you start a blank document is the font used in the Normal style in the default template Normal.dot.

Select Format | Style..., and click Modify...
Select Font from the dropdown list and set the font (and font size etc.) that you like.
Before clicking OK to close the Modify Style dialog, tick the "Add to Template" check box.
The modifications will be stored in your Normal.dot. They will be applied to all NEW documents.

If you want an existing document to use the new style definition:
    - Select Tools | Templates and Add-ins...
    - Tick the check box "Automatically update document styles".
    - Click OK.
    - Select Tools | Templates and Add-ins...
    - Clear the check box "Automatically update document styles".
    - Click OK.
You will have to repeat this for all existing documents that you want to use the new style definition.

In Excel, you can set the default font and font size in the General tab of Tools | Options...
This will only affect new workbooks and worksheets.
