    Form doesn't appear (Access03)

Form doesn't appear if no entry for employee. What causes the above to happen?

    Thanks

Please explain what you mean by "form doesn't appear". Why should it appear, and where?

Have main form frmEmployees with a tab control. On that tab control have placed frmEvaluation on control. On the frmEvaluation is subfrmEvaluation which has subfrmEvaluationList on it. If I go to an employee who has had an evaluation entered the whole package appears. If there is no previous evaluation only the frmEvaluation appears not the subfrmEvaluation or subfrmEvaluationList forms. This kind of makes it difficult to enter a new evaluation for someone. The whole package is connected using the EmployeeID. You can see a basic outline of where the form should be.

    I hope this helps. Thanks

Does one of the subforms have its Allow Additions property set to No?

Added later: or is the record source of one of the subforms not updateable?

    No on the first question.
I looked but I wasn't sure how to see if the record source was updatable. On the Data property tab for the form Allow Filters, Edits, Deletions, and Additions are set to yes on all forms.

    Thanks Fay

If you go to an employee that already has an evaluation, can you add new evaluations and subevaluations to the subforms?

    Fay,

Odds are the problem you are encountering is that the form opens blank when there is no data for that particular data point. To get around this, you can write "dummy" data to at least one data point for the data source of the form.

    For example,
Your database tracks people and classes people have taken. Two tables, People and Classes that are linked as a one to many, one person can take many classes. You have a form and subform linked; main form on people, subform on classes. However, when you add a person to the people table and open the form with subform, the subform is blank. Add a dummy field to the classes table. Whenever you add a person, in code, write a record to the dummy field such as a 1. Then in the subform, add the dummy field but make it invisible.

Then when you open the form, you should see all of the fields with no data as opposed to a blank screen.

    HTH
    Regards,

    Gary
