List of startup locations (any)

Quite some time ago "someone" gave a reference to an extremely lengthy newsgroup exchange of messages, which included some participation by Merijn (of StartupList fame, among other programs) which gave a full account of some of the more obscure registry keys which could be used to start a program (not the run-of-the-mill Run, RunOnce, etc keys, Startup folders, and so on).

I haven't been able to find it by a Search on the Lounge, nor on Google Groups.

Note that the question does not relate to the order in which programs are started, just the locations from which they can be started!

Thanks!

John,
I don't have a comprehensive list. However, if you go to Autoruns@sysinternals you can get a very small utility which will show them all to you.

You've answered the wrong question but got the right answer! The latest version of AUTORUNS is dated 10th May 2004, and produces a LOT more than did the previous versions. Absolute pig to print, though...

What an amazing number of locations from which a program can run...

What a useful little utility. I had no idea that I had quite so many things starting up!

This one works as well, but it makes a text file type display.

StartupList

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

John,
While not trivial, it seems easy to use File | Save As. Then edit with Notepad and do what you wish.

Yes, same result as saving to the Clipboard and then pasting into NOTEPAD. Still the same difficulty with editing!

(I saved the file then went into my DOS editor, where I can sort the lines and get rid of the stuff I didn't want...)

Thanks!

That StartupList program appears to be Merijn's standard StartupList 1.52, but from a different website!
